People often ask me how long my paintings take, and for me, the answer is always nuanced. No two paintings are the same because no two days—and no two energies—are the same.
I don’t calculate the minutes or hours I spend at the easel. I’ve found that the more I can go with the flow of the energy, the more vibrant the result. Often, I have two to six paintings going at once, flowing between commissions and originals as the spirit moves me.
But this particular painting was a "long haul."
I started this piece at the beginning of a deeply personal journey—a season of rebirthing. In the middle of creating it, I turned 40. As I hit that milestone, things shifted in a major way. I felt a blossoming in my energy sessions, my readings, and my personal life, and I saw that same growth unfolding on the canvas.
This painting is a "cheers" and an ode to those new beginnings. It’s about putting the puzzle pieces together and looking at the "long haul"—the hardships, the celebrations, and the tiny moments all woven into one. As the liquid pieces of this work came together, they created a new "Genesis."
It felt like the only right name for this piece.

A Milestone for the Journey
It feels so aligned to introduce this painting now, just as I’ve reached a new professional milestone. I am so honored to share that I have been accepted as a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh (AAP)!
The AAP is the oldest continuously exhibiting visual arts organization in the country. To join a legacy that has included icons like Mary Cassatt and Andy Warhol is a dream come true.
Funnily enough, the nudge to apply came during a reading with a special client-turned-friend. Spirit speaks to us in so many ways—through nature, family, and art—and this message came in loud and clear. I am so excited to see what unfolds in this next chapter.
This work is a continuation of the journey I started with my original Cheers bourbon painting. Whether we are celebrating the small wins or the massive "Genesis" moments, there is always a reason to raise a glass to the process.
